USIEF ANNOUNCES 2011-12 FULBRIGHT-NEHRU FELLOWSHIPS

For All India NGOS

NEW DELHI -- The United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) announces the opening of its annual competition for Fulbright-Nehru and other Fulbright fellowship opportunities for study, research, teaching and professional development in the United States.

Outstanding Indian students, academics, teachers, policy planners, administrators, and professionals in all disciplines are encouraged to apply. The U.S.-India bilateral Fulbright agreement has resulted in a significant increase in the number of scholarships awarded each year. USIEF expects to offer approximately 110 Fulbright-Nehru fellowships for Indians in 2011.

Apply for Yashwant Yuva Fellowship


Nav Maharashtra Yuva Abhiyan of Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan, Mumbai invites appilcations for Yashwant Yuva Fellowship with a motive to provide guidance and financial support to young social activists in Maharashtra, working creatively in the sectors of education, health, social, economically backward sections, employment, agriculture and water, environment, etc.
Some points to be noted:
  • 4 activists will be chosen, one from each of Western Maharshtra, Konkan, Vidarbha and Marathwada.
  • Fellowship period will be minimum 1 year and maximum 2 years.
  • The age of the applicant should be between 25 and 35 years as on 6 February 2010.
  • The applicant must be atleast a graduate.
  • The applicant must have worked for minimum 5 years in the social sectorof Maharashtra through youth activities or organisations.
  • Last date of application: 6 February 2010.

Apply for India NGO Awards 2009

India NGO Awards 2009

Organised by the Resource Alliance, with support from the Rockefeller Foundation, the NGO Awards seek to recognise and celebrate organisations that are setting and promoting best practices in resource mobilisation, accountability and transparency.
The competition is open to small, medium and large NGOs from all over India which work towards social and environmental transformation.
National winners will be announced at a final Award Ceremony in Delhi where the Awardees will each be presented with a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 4,00,000.
Other benefits of applying include:
All applicants will be invited to participate in customised workshops on resource mobilisation and related areas.
All regional finalists will be profiled in a casebook which will be disseminated across the country.
All regional finalists will recieve mentoring support from The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE).

Inauguration of ngoVARTA...







Pune: Oct 2nd : Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti: India's first SMS based Newsletter- ngoVARTA for NGOs & Social Sector people in Maharashtra was inaugurated at the hands of Dr Milind Bhoi (Advisor- Planning Commission- Youth & Sports Committee, GoI & National Youth Awardee,GoI) on the auspicious day of Gandhi Jayanti on Oct 2 in Pune.


This newsletter will INTEGRATE & INTERCONNECT Social Sector people. This SMS newsletter will alert, inform and update all the affiliate members FREE of cost.
More than 3500 organisations & 8500 individuals across Maharashtra are connected with this newsletter.


Dr Bhoi appreciated the initiative and explained why & how it’s important to bring the social sector people together under a single umbrella. He also mentioned that through this newsletter every social worker will be connected & updated which will help in amplifying their voice, highlight their activities & develop friendships amongst them.


Ravi Ghate, Social Entrepreneur & innovator of 'Local SMS Community Newsletter' which is recognised amongst top 15 'Mobile Social Innovations in the World', expressed the idea behind the initiative. He mentioned that, if the development related activities of youth social workers are highlighted, then they work more energetically and indirectly empowers the nation.
